Why Did I Stop Being a Film Distributor?

Do you remember when I was a film distributor?

What you don’t know is that I was broke. I worked for free, thinking the films I promoted would make money in ticket sales and allow me to earn cash back.

Pff, this didn’t happen!

Filmmakers who “hired” me (fun fact: they didn’t hire me; we made a deal in the ticket sale) didn’t invest in marketing, so films made 0; yes, you read it right, ZERO. There was no money to share.

Film distributors are not the problem here. The problem is the filmmakers behind the films who don’t invest in marketing early and expect someone else to save their films from drowning.

These films I distributed were okay, but no one knew them, and even when they were in cinemas, people didn’t watch them. Why? Because people no longer choose a film while in the movie theater, they buy their tickets online; they have Netflix or other VOD platforms.

There are so many options for watching films right now that your movie may be lost in the ocean of audiovisual content.

Ultimately, I changed my business model and left distribution to become a full-time film marketing strategist.

I prefer to teach filmmakers how to promote, sell, and package a film instead of watching them fail every time.

This is why Filmpreneurship Network will open its doors next month, and I have never felt so aligned with an offer.

This is a membership program where filmmakers and film producers can master the business side of filmmaking.

➡️ How to promote your film

➡️ How to create a business plan

➡️ How to sell

➡️ How do you put a price on your film?

There is so much to learn when you join the program.

I am all about action when working with me.

If you feel called and this is what you need, don’t overthink it. This is a sign; this is for you!
