At the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I didn’t earn money, but then I learned how to sell. What happened next?

I was so focused on money that I didn’t choose my clients well or the projects I was involved in. I could see the red flags and warnings, but I kept going.

These mistakes made me doubt myself. I thought I didn’t know what I was doing, and not having enough experience in the business side of my film business made me an easy target. I thought I didn’t belong at the big table.

I heard countless times, “You don’t know who I am,” “I will close the doors for you,” “No one will want to work with you”

But the truth is that I gave too much power to these people, and because I was afraid, I let them talk me down.

Through my work with mindset and personal development, I discovered I attracted these people, and I was the one finding and making excuses not to be part of the big table.

And if you want to be part of something bigger than yourself, you must find the way.

What do I do to protect myself from a hostile environment and people?

➡ Setting boundaries. I will make a mental note to learn from my mistakes and ensure that what happened to me once will not happen again.

➡ I surround myself with professional help. You might see a simple personal brand on the internet, but I have a lawyer, a bookkeeper, and a business coach, and I normally participate in mentorship programs and business communities.

➡ I have built a community that supports me; bad blood gets blocked and banned from my social media.

I don’t do this to be liked by people but to protect my energy and myself.

Knowing I have the help and support around me makes me feel strong, creative, and confident that everything is working out for me.

I say no more often than you can expect because I know my goals and dreams and what will make me reach them faster.
