He is also an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

During his 37 years in the film industry, Mauricio has overseen the theatrical release of over 1,800 films, including more than 100 blockbusters. In 2007, Mauricio joined Universal Pictures as SVP for Marketing & Distribution in Latin America, where he was responsible for establishing the first Universal Pictures office in Latin America, located in Mexico City. He supervised all distribution and marketing teams across the region.

Mauricio played an active role in several industry innovations in Mexico and Latin America, including the transition from 35mm to digital, the shift from conventional marketing campaigns to forward-thinking online campaigns, and every major technological change in the business.

In October 2010, Mauricio was honored by ShowEast with the International Achievement Award in Distribution.

He holds a degree in Communication Science from the prestigious Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), with a dissertation on film distribution titled “Why Do We See What We See?” (¿Por qué vemos lo que vemos?).

In October 2022, Mauricio was awarded by ShoWest with the International Career Achievement Award in the Film Industry.

GUIDANCE

I am a film producer, film distribution and marketing consultant, and founder of an AI film marketing platform. I have more than 16 years of experience working in the film industry. I am originally from Mexico but am currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I help film producers and filmmakers fund, market, and sell their films from beginning to end. I put my distribution and marketing skills to work since the production stage.

I have been involved with over a hundred releases from blockbusters such as The Twilight Saga, RED, Divergent, and Maya the Bee to many independent films and TV series around the globe, especially when it comes to building a bridge between America and Europe.

I have a communication degree and a master’s in advertising from the Complutense University of Madrid, and I specialize in digital marketing through Google and IAB Spain.
