Filmmakers undervalue content creation and the people you can reach with it.
They think there is only one way to get the contact information of an influential person: by meeting them through someone else or magically, the information comes to them, but this is far from the truth.
I want to share with you how I have increased my visibility and network in a country/continent other than my own.
I do online networking and content creation.
What does that even mean, Rosa?
This means that I put my social skills to work in the online space where I get ready to meet people online. I am not afraid of asking someone for a coffee meeting or a virtual coffee; I reach out, comment, and engage with other people’s pages, profiles, and content. I ask questions and above all little by little I have found my found my voice.
Just like you, I was afraid of posting and saying something wrong or bothering someone with my online presence; I wanted to be liked and hired, but I came to a point where I didn’t care anymore. In fact, meeting people online and posting my own content has taught me to filter the people I want to work with because the people who don’t want anything to do with me won’t reach out or even say bad things about me.
I show up every time to a call, even when I believe the person might be weird and you know what? I have encountered amazing surprises about the people I meet. follow-up on contacts and calls. I consider each person who contacts me on the Internet important, and I always answer their messages, comments, and emails. If I don’t, it is because they probably have gotten lost in the ocean of messages I receive.
That is part of my marketing strategy.
Your marketing plan might look different; perhaps you never considered networking as part of your strategy, or you might not even have one in place. Don’t worry—I am here to help you!
You will learn how to network properly and reach out to the right people. Perhaps you need more structure and the right steps to follow so you can reach your goals and dreams. This is exactly why I have created the Filmpreneurship Network, a membership program where film producers and filmmakers will learn the business side of films.
